ICAA announces beneficiaries of amortisation funding for 2008

by

Last week, the ICAA unveiled the list of films selected for production funding (see news). They have now announced the subsidies for the amortisation of features, following the 2008 funding competition. The names of the beneficiaries (films and companies) have been officially published in the BOE (Official Spanish Gazette).

The sum distributed – €45.38m in total – is considerable and, as previously reported (see news), amortisations account for the largest amount of funding that the Ministry of Culture earmarks for film (75.85% of the total in 2007).

A total of 93 features and 109 companies will receive funding, although, as is often the case, the available budget – which for this purpose was fixed at €56m – has not been exhausted. Compared to 2007, the total amount has increased by 12%, from €50m to €56m, but the money actually granted has dropped slightly (-2.34%), from €46.47m to €45.38m.

Seven films have been allocated the maximum amount for this category, fixed at €1m. These include Agustín Díaz-Yanes’ Alatriste [+see also:
