- Sicilian musician to make directorial debut with semi-autobiographical Perduto amor

Franco Battiato one of Italy’s foremost cutting edge singer-songwriters is to make his directorial feature debut with the semi-autobiographical Perduto amore – Lost Love, based on the song by Adamo that will accompany the film’s opening credits.
Battiato’s Lost Love screenplay was designated as being “of cultural interest to the nation” and the film is scheduled to go into production in October in various locations in Sicily. In an interview with Italian daily, “il Nuovo”, Battiato said that the film is the story of a boy from the age of 8 to 20. “The only autobiographical connotation is in his gradual awareness. I’d never make a film about certain aspects of life. I have to expunge the negative and so I can confirm that this is an autobiography in that is based on some real-life events that I elaborated on using my imagination.”
