There are, however, very few Scandinavian titles and a noticeable absence of Italian films.

Among the latest additions to the main programme are Andreas Struck’s German film Sleeping Songs, Panos H. Koutras’ Strella (Greece) and Pavel Bardin’s Russian title Russia 88.

The main programme will open on February 5 with the French production Human Zoo. This debut directorial work by Danish actress Rie Rasmussen centres on a woman who – traumatised by the Balkans crisis – flees to Paris.

The final additions to the Panorama Special programme include three Asian titles; Austrian/German/US co-production Short Cut to Hollywood by Marcus Mittermeier and Jan Henrik Stahlberg; and Rune Denstad Langlo’s Norwegian film North, which will open the sidebar on February 6.

Finally, the Panorama Dokumente section is hosting six additional German titles and several US (co-)productions. Globalisation is one of the major themes on this year’s programme.

Moreover, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Panorama Audience Award, previous prize-winning films will be presented.
