Good French presence in Tiger Competition

premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Tiger Awards Competition for first and second films. The most well-known section of the festival, with its three VPRO Tiger Awards, is now a part of the new Bright Future section.

, Be Good follows a teenage girl barely old enough to drive as she starts a new job in a picturesque region unknown to her as the driver for a local baker. On her rounds, she encounters many of the colourful locals.

The film subtly segues into more disturbing territory, however, as it turns out she is seeking out a former lover who lives nearby and who has an unnatural connection to her.

Be Good stars the French revelation Anais Demoustier, who gives a natural and highly convincing performance as the troubled protagonist.

Demoestier was recently on screens in Christophe Honore’s La Belle Personne [+see also:

and was nominated in the Most Promising New Actress category at the Cesars for her role in Anna Novion’s Grown Ups [+see also:

.

Garcias’ film also stars Bruno Todeschini and Nade Dieu and will be released in France in April, courtesy of Les Films du Losange.

The film is a European co-production that reunites French outfit Slot Machine and Denmark’s Zentropa. It is sold internationally by TrustNordisk.
