Tavernier, Chabrol and Jeunet in TF1 line-up

TF1 International has a first-rate line-up planned for the European Film Market at the Berlin Film Festival (February 5-15).

In competition, the French sales company will be hoping for success with Bertrand Tavernier’s French/US co-production In the Electric Mist [+see also:

. Adapted from a novel by James Lee Burke, the film stars Tommy Lee Jones, John Goodman and Peter Sarsgaard (French release: April 15).

The Berlin selection also includes a special screening of Claude Chabrol’s Bellamy [+see also:

(domestic release: February 25). This detective film features Gérard Depardieu, Clovis Cornillac, Jacques Gamblin, Marie Bunel and Vahina Giocante.

Set to be unveiled in world market premiere are Laurent Tuel’s thriller Le premier cercle [+see also:

(“The First Circle”), starring Jean Reno, Gaspard Ulliel, Vahina Giocante and Sami Bouajila (domestic release: March 4); and David Morley’s horror film Mutants.

There are also some gems in post-production, including Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Micmacs à tire-larigot (“Playing Games to Your Heart’s Content”, release date: October 28). This satirical comedy about arms dealers stars Dany Boon, Andre Dussollier, Julie Ferrier, Yolande Moreau and Jean-Pierre Marielle.

The film’s sales got off to an excellent start at the AFM with acquisitions by Entertainment One (UK), Scanbox (Scandinavia), Odeon (Greece) and Hollywood Classic (Czech Republic and Slovakia).

Other features in post-production on TF1 International’s line-up are Tran Anh Hung’s I Come with the Rain, starring Josh Harnett; Eléonore Faucher’s Gamines (“Kids”, see news), featuring Sylvie Testud; Tony Gatlif’s Liberté (“Freedom”, see news), starring Marie-Josée Croze, Marc Lavoine and James Thiérrée; and Wang Chao’s French/Chinese co-production Starting Over.

Further titles to be presented are the horror thriller Dans ton sommeil (“In Your Sleep”) by Caroline and Eric du Potet; Thomas Gilou’s family comedy Victor, featuring Pierre Richard, Sara Forestier and Lambert Wilson; and Ivan Calbérac’s divorce story Une semaine sur deux (“Every Other Week”), with a cast headed by Mathilde Seigner.
