Dane gives lowdown on L.A. gangs

Richard Gere is to star in Danish film director Bille August’s latest film, Without Apparent Motive. Written by Eric Blakeney and set in Los Angeles, Gere will play a detective investigating the brutal serial murders of three local businessmen. The officer’s profiling skill enable him to enter the killer’s psyche although the law inforcer comes close to losing his own identity in the process. August was extremely thorough in his pre-production preparation, even to the point of moving in with young gang members and observing them “in action” even during fights. Without Apparent Motive will be produced by Splendid Film, who also produced Soderberg’s Traffic and Scorsese’s The Gangs of New York.
