FILMS France

Depardieu/Reno

by

- Two of French cinema's acting icons join forces for the very first time in a new comedy directed by Francis (The Closet) Verber

For the first time, Gérard Depardieu and Jean Reno are making a film together, Les Tourereaux (provisional title) directed by Francis Veber that is currently on location in Paris. The pairing of these two box office stars virtually guarantees that this film will be a huge success, especially after the 8 million domestic and 3.2 million international tickets that were sold to an earlier comedy directed by Verber, Le Placard (The Closet). This will be Francis Veber’s fourth film with Gérard Depardieu following their legendary trilogy entitled La Chèvre (The Goat), Les Compères (ComDads) and Les Fugitifs and Veber’s second with Jean Reno, after Le Jaguar. The stellar cast also features André Dussolier and Bernard Giraudeau. Produced by UGC Images with a Euros27million budget, Les Tourereaux will be Francis Veber’s last film with Gaumont, behind all of his major films to date. Filming on Veber’s new set began on 6 September and is scheduled to continue on location in the 11th and 12th arrondissement in Paris until December.
