Carlyle produces hooligan project

Scottish actor Robert Carlyle and writer Irvine Welsh are joining forces on a controversial film project about the hooligan element in Cardiff City Football team supporters' club. Carlyle, whose 4Way Pictures bought the rights to “Soul Crew” written by two former football hooligans, Tony Rivers and David Jones, will produce the film with Welshe writing the sceenplay. The Scottish duo first worked together on Trainspotting that Carlyle starred in and Welsh wrote. In an interview with the BBC, a spokesperson for Cardiff City said the club was unhappy about this project because they feel “it will misrepresent the club’s fans...”.
