Sales expert Peter Rogers is moving from one US independent company to another. Currently head of International Sales and Distribution in London for Cobalt Media Group, Rogers is to return to his previous employer, Lakeshore International, in January 2003 as CEO of Lakeshore UK. The news was confirmed today to Cineuropa by Peter Rogers’ office in London.
According to “Variety”, Rogers’ new appointment is part of Lakeshore’s new strategy to increase its co-production and co-financing activities in Europe. During the last Cannes Film Festival, it was announced that the US independent was co-producing a RAI project entitled Singing Behind the Scenes by the well-known Italian director, Ermanno Olmi, against US and international sales rights. The Italian public broadcaster had previously appointed Lakeshore as its exclusive buyer of US products for Italian distribution.
Lakeshore International is the international sales arm of Lakeshore Entertainment based at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood. The company produces around four to five titles a year. Currently in production is the horror movie, Underworld directed by Len Wiseman, while a drama entitled The Human Stain, starring Nicole Kidman and Anthony Hopkins is in post-production.
Lakeshore recently took over the international sales rights on Paul Hunter’s Bulletproof Monk from troubled Signpost Films.
