03/05/2013 - The VAF has just announced the results of its latest funding session: five projects will be funded in production and eight will receive a screenplay subsidy

Two first films are amongst the projects funded for production. In My First Highway by Kevin Meul, spectators follow the murderous summer of Benjamin. While spending his holidays camping with his family, he meets the very attractive Ann. Determined to help her get rid of a heavy secret, he commits the irreparable and sinks into paranoia. My First Highway is a teenage drama on the loss (almost literal) of innocence, produced by Czar TV. Kevin Meul took part in the Torino Film Lab and the Binger Lab with this project. The other first film is signed Lukas Bossuyt, who has worked in television and directed many music videos and a widely noticed short film, Strawberry Flavour. His first feature film, The Sum of Histories, is produced by Caviar which is also producing two other projects that have received a screenplay subsidy, Oude Goden by Frank Van Passel (Madonna's Pig) and Spion by Benjamin Sprengers.

The VAF will also fund the production of next film by Geoffrey Enthoven, who just toured the world with Hasta la Vista [+lee también:

ficha de la película], his poignant road movie which follows three disabled men looking for love, or just sex, on the roads of Spain. Halfweg, like Hasta la Vista, will be based on a screenplay by Pierre de Clercq, and produced by Mariano Vanhoof for Fobic Films.

The two minority projects selected for production are coproduced by A Private View (Brasserie Romantiek [+lee también:

ficha de la película]). They are Bee Lucky, Philippe de Pierpont’s new film (She’s Not Crying, She’s Singing [+lee también:

ficha de la película]), in coproduction with Iota, and Couple in a Hole, the second film directed by Tom Geens, discovered with Liar.

Finally, for the screenplay subsidies, the VAF will notably provide funding for Coureur by Kenneth Mercken, a former professional cyclist; Animal Language, Bas Devos’s first feature film produced by Minds Meet; and Syrië,an intriguing new project by Fien Troch (Kid [+lee también:
