by Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia will be presented at the MoMa in New York within the context of the New Directors/New Films event organised by the Museum of Modern Art together with the Lincoln Centre Film Society (March 19-30). Distributor Film Movement will then release the Italian winner of Cannes’ last Critics’ Week.

The New York event, in its 43rd edition, focuses on the discovery and support of emerging talent: over the years, it has helped launch the careers of filmmakers including Quentin Tarantino, Spike Lee, Wim Wenders, John Sayles and Wong Kar Wai, becoming one of the most anticipated events for Americans looking at new international trends. The event is closely followed by the press and attended by local distributors. Italian presence at New Directors/New Films has once more been organised by the Luce Cinecittà Institute.

Immediately before attending New Directors/New Films, the two Sicilian directors will be presenting their film across London (18-22 March) where Salvo will be coming out in cinemas with Peccadillo Pictures.

The latest country to buy rights for the film is the Netherlands (at the European Film Market at the Berlinale), adding to the 25 countries already distributing it. The film, starring Palestinian Saleh Bakri and Sara Serraiocco, has already come out in France in October where it has been well received by critics. The film’s directors were particularly touched by the warm reception received in Brazil.
