Fully shot in Dublin, the film explores the complex theme of the housing crisis and revolves around the life of a young family who find themselves homeless after they are evicted from rented accommodation. Playing the couple are two famed Irish actors, Sarah Greene (Black 47 [+lee también:

The script was penned in its entirety by Roddy Doyle, author of the 1987 best seller The Commitments, which inspired Alan Parker’s feature drama released four years later. The cinematography of Rosie has been entrusted to director of photography Cathal Watters who has just finished working on John Butler’s Papi Chulo [+lee también:

Rosie is being produced by Emma Norton and Juliette Bonass for Element Pictures, one of the leading Irish film companies, currently based in Dublin. Element Pictures is the firm behind internationally successful productions such as Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster [+lee también:

ficha de la película]. The project has also been granted financial support from the Irish Film Board for both the development and production phases. The overall contribution of the national film agency amounts to € 625,000.

Rosie will be the director’s ninth feature film. Most of Breathnach’s works have garnered national acclaim, in particular the afore-mentioned Viva (five nominations and one award for best cinematography at the 2016 Irish Film and Television Awards) and Man About Dog (ten nominations at the 2004 Irish Film and Television Awards). 

An official release date is yet to be confirmed by the production company Element Pictures, who are also managing distribution.
