La Cinémathèque italienne présente : le Film Corner

Cet article est disponible en anglais.

Under the umbrella of the Lombardia Film Commission, on Sunday 4 September, the Fondazione Cineteca Italiana, at the 73rd Venice Film Festival, will introduce two new initiatives that will be developed in 2017, a crucial year for the Foundation. The presentation will take place at the Istituto Luce Cinecitta's Italian Pavillon.

As part of the future plans for the educational activities of the Foundation, in 2017 the film literacy project The Film Corner. New On and Off Activities for Film Literacy will take place. The project was considered to be one of the best European projects within the last Creative Europe sub-programme "Audience Development 22/2015" call, which aims to support film-literacy activities that will foster young audiences' interest in European audiovisual works. The project has been awarded funds by Creative Europe to support the development of an online resource for young people.

The aims of the project are to design, release and test an online digital virtual platform for film literacy, taking advantage of the opportunities offered by web 2.0 and innovative cross-media approaches in the digital era. Its intention is to raise the average film-literacy level of the EU's young audiences. The general aim of the project is to create an easy-to-use model for film literacy that will improve film-literacy skills. The technical development will be supported by a set of offline knowledge transfer activities aimed at teachers and students. The aim is to share the platform and to explore its potential uses as a tool for pedagogical purposes in class.

The Fondazione Cineteca Italiana will develop the project together with well-known European partners: The Film Space, an innovative film-literacy provider based in the UK; The Nerve Centre, a creative learning centre set up in Derry, Northern Ireland; the National Cinematheque of Serbia, in Belgrade, one of the oldest cinematheques in the world; and the University of Milano Bicocca's Dipartimento di Scienze Umane per la Formazione Riccardo Massa.

From the beginning of 2017, a series of events labelled #Cineteca70 will take place to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Foundation (1947-2017), the oldest Italian cinematheque, founded by Luigi Comencini and Alberto Lattuada in 1947. Film screenings, exhibitions, workshops, conferences and publishing initiatives that celebrate this anniversary will be introduced during the event.
