Con otto nomination, Fish Tank di Andrea Arnold guida le candidature ai 12mi British Independent Film Award (BIFA). Moon di Duncan Jones segue con sette nomination mentre An Education di Lone Scherfig, In the Loop di Armando Ianucci e Nowhere Boy di Sam Taylor-Wood hanno tutti sei nomination.

Daniel Day Lewis riceverà il Premio Richard Harris per il Contributo al Cinema Inglese. Tra le case di produzione, BBC Films è in testa con ben 26 nomination. Il Direttore creativo della compagnia, Christine Langan, ha commentato: “A BBC Films siamo felici dell’enorme numero di candidature, e ci congratuliamo con tutti i nostri partner: questa è la prova della qualità del loro talento, originalità e impegno”.

I Direttori del BIFA, Johanna von Fischer e Tessa Collinson, hanno aggiunto: “Abbiamo un numero record di film presentati quest’anno, e il comitato di selezione ha visto oltre 200 film. Dalle nomination viene fuori la forza della categoria dei registi esordienti”.

La giuria comprende quest’anno l’attrice Jodie Whittaker, gli attori Idris Elba, Liam Cunningham, Eddie Marsan e Peter Mullan, i registi Sarah Gavron e Eran Creevy, i produttori Dixie Linder, Anita Overland e Adrian Sturges, la documentarista Kate Blewett, il consulente marketing cinematografico Robert Mitchell, il proiezionista Paul Speed ed il responsabile Distribuzione e Esercizio dello UK Film Council, Peter Buckingham.

La cerimonia di assegnazione si terrà domenica 6 dicembre.
