The body of work of Portuguese directors João Pedro Rodrigues and João Rui Guerra da Mata will be in focus at the upcoming Vila do Conde Short Film Festival (9-17 July) at an exhibition running in parallel with the festival and due to be held in the Solar – Gallery of Cinematic Art.

Billed as an event offering an amusing journey through the universe of the projects that the duo have co-directed over the past few years (mainly short films, but Guerra da Mata was also credited for the 2012 feature The Last Time I Saw Macao [+leggi anche:

. No release date has yet been announced, but since Rodrigues is a regular on the festival circuit, it would come as no surprise to discover the film at one of the post-summer holiday gatherings.

In addition to the exhibition, the two directors also have a carte blanche at Vila do Conde, which includes a series of titles by very different filmmakers, such as Charlie Chaplin, Jacques Tati, Jean Genet and Jean-Luc Godard, among others.

Besides the usual local and international selection of the latest titles in the short format, the 24th Vila do Conde Short Film Festival is also presenting a series of interesting film-concerts. British band Tindersticks – known for having composed the scores of Claire Denis’ films – and Swedish singer Jay-Jay Johanson will be fusing music and moving images on stage.
