John Rabe scoops Golden Lola27/04/2009 - On Friday evening, Berlin’s Radio Tower hosted the Lola German Film Awards ceremony. The prizes – worth a total of €2,845,000 – were rather evenly distributed among the different nominees.

Widely tipped for success, Florian Gallenberger’s John Rabe [trailer], about "China’s Schindler", was nominated in seven categories. It picked up the Golden Lola for Best Film as well as Best Actor (Ulrich Tukur), Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

The Bronze Lola was presented to another favourite: Andreas Dresen’s Cloud 9 [trailer], which also earned Best Director and Best Actress (Ursula Werner).

Özgür Yildirim’s Chiko [trailer] and Philipp Stölz’s North Face [trailer] each scooped two Lolas: Best Screenplay (Yildirim) and Best Editing went to the former and Best Cinematography and Best Sound to the latter.

Other prize-winners include Niko von Glasow’s documentary Nobody's Perfect, Ina Weisse’s The Architect [trailer] and Christian Görlitz’s Fleisch ist mein Gemüse [trailer].
