Christensen, August face Troell’s Truth and Consequence

Octogenarian Swedish filmmaker Jan Troell has hired an A-list cast of Nordic talent for his upcoming film Truth and Consequence. Danish actor Jesper Christensen, the star of Troell’s Everlasting Moments [+see also:

, will play the lead role of Swedish journalist Torgny Segerstedt, who became famous during WW2 for standing up against the Nazis. Pernille August will co-star.

Other cast members include Björn Granath (of the Millennium trilogy) and Ulla Skoog.

The script by Troell and Danish writer Klaus Rifbjerg is based on Kenne Fant’s biography about Segerstedt. The director has said the story will focus on the man behind the enigmatic character, and his inner demons.

The €4.5m film is produced by Francy Suntinger for Filmlance International in Sweden, in co-production with Norway’s Maipo and Denmark’s Nordisk Film Production; with co-financing from SVT, Film i Väst, Filmpool Nord; and support from the Swedish and Norwegian film institutes, Eurimages and the Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Filming will start in Luleå, Sweden on February 21 and will continue in Göteborg for another eight weeks. TrustNordisk handles world sales.
