The director presents Good Bye, Lenin!, his film written with Bernd Lichtenberg, EFA Best film, best actor (Daniel Brühl), best screenwriter (Bernd Lichtenberg).
He describes his work as "a universal story of a young man who saves the life of the mother trough lies, building up a little world that represents a big faith".
A story with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany as a background, that for Becker can be understood and appreciated both by an audience outside Germany, and by all the "east Berliners who feel a desire to remember things as used to be, looking backwards to the times when they thought everything was better. Before finding out that not everything in the West was gold".
