Somewhere in New Mexico, a small lost village in the middle of the desert.
Involved in the Gold Rush, Lincoln has only known one real pleasure, in 1881, Billy the Kid, aka William Bonney, the famous desperado is killed at the age of 21 by Pat Garrett, sheriff of Lincoln county. Case closed. Yet, in June 2003, Tom Sullivan, the now sheriff of the Lincoln county, decides to reopen the Billy the Kid case. A strong rumour accuses Pat Garrett of having killed someone innocent instead of Billy the Kid and of having accepted €500 as a payment. Billy took advantage of this by changing his identity and life. There were rumours that the Kid died in Texas in 1950. If Garrett, the good cop hadn't killed the Kid, would he still be crooked? Sheriff Sullivan wants him arrested. Accompanied with his assistant and their friend, sheriff Fort Sumner, Sullivan embarks on the biggest investigation of his career.
