The five-day workshop will unspool alongside the 72nd Trento Film Festival. During the course, the 12 selected participants will be given the opportunity to consolidate their skills in developing specific audiovisual projects by way of focus and plenary sessions, taught by producers Nadia Trevisan of Nefertiti Film (who has produced feature films along the lines of Heartless [+see also:

, The Good Life and La Villa).

On the subject of the workshop’s objectives, Barbiani explains that: “The journey embarked upon by creative producers can be arduous and lonely, and many different, continually changing skills are required. Forward can provide participants with useful tools to make the path less onerous, and even enjoyable and supportive”.

Trevisan adds: “Forward is an opportunity for exchanges between equals and for growth within a working group wrestling with similar doubts and issues".

More specifically, the course will touch upon all aspects of the producer role as they develop multiple projects, their creative contribution, the roles within the working team, the singling out of stories, the relationship between the producer and the financiers, co-production, development budgets, production budgets, and the funding plan and funding strategies.

Forward will also play host to three masterclasses, focusing on contracts and author rights, events for professionals and co-production forums, and the role of the film commissions and regional funds within the production process. The agenda will also include an in-depth analysis of sustainable production and Green Film certification, with the masterclasses in question led by external experts.

Registration is open until 5.30pm on Monday 18 March. Application forms can be completed here.
