16/09/2025 - The network and the festival will bring together 21 distributors for an exclusive workshop led by Finnish distributor and expert Hanna Lajunen

Europa Distribution and San Sebastian International Film Festival continue their long and fruitful collaboration for the 2025 edition of the festival. This year, the partnership will bring together around 21 distributors for an exclusive workshop centred on script analysis, with significant attention on engaging audiences.

The closed workshop will be led by distributor and expert Hanna Lajunen (Cinemanse, Finland). The sessions will be split into different days all along the festival, starting on Monday 22 September with an introduction to script analysis and the different approaches and key elements to this important step in the potential acquisition of a film. On Tuesday 23 September the participants will explore new strategies for acquiring films based on script principles before breaking out into working groups to discuss how the content of the workshop will impact their approaches to reading and pre-buying methods going forward. On Wednesday 24 September Europa Distribution and Europa International join forces again to hold a second edition of their closed working session between distributors and sales agents dedicated to the collaboration and cooperation between these two sectors.

In light of the partnership between Europa Distribution and the San Sebastian International Film Festival, distributors participating will also attend festival activities such as Work in Progress Screenings from both Europe and Latin America.

Europa Distribution will continue to organise networking events for distributors and other film professionals, and discuss the unique challenges of promoting and publishing European independent films. The network’s next events will be the ED Network Conference taking place in Brussels on 20 and 21 November 2025, The Film Distribution Innovation Hub in brand new partnership with When East Meets West in Trieste from 18-21 January 2026, a public panel at the EFM in Berlin in February, and many more to follow soon.
