Mediawan acquires Plan B
The French group has taken a majority stake in Brad Pitt’s production company
Founded in 2015 by Pierre-Antoine Capton, Xavier Niel and Matthieu Pigasse, and already boasting a presence in 11 countries, French group Mediawan is continuing its accelerated growth by entering the American market with a bang, having just acquired a majority stake in Brad Pitt’s famed production company Plan B (which previously gave us works including 12 Years a Slave [+see also:

film profile], Les infiltrés, The Tree of Life, The Big Short, and the series The Underground Railroad).
Mediawan currently operates by way of 60 production labels (fiction, cinema, documentaries, animation, weekly TV programmes), which have slowly been bought out in France and Europe, including Palomar (Italy), Leonine Studios (Germany), Drama Republic (UK), Good Mood (Spain), Aito Media (Finland) and France ON Kids & Family, Mon Voisin Productions (responsible for the series Call My Agent! ), GMT Productions (of the series Les papillons noirs [+see also:

series profile]), Makever, Storia Televisions, Chapter 2, Radar Films (Belle and Sebastien – Next Generation [+see also:
film profile]), Chi-Fou-Mi Productions (The Stronghold [+see also:
film profile]), Mai Juin Productions, Black Dynamite and so on.
Its partnership with Plan B sees Mediawan entering into a new dimension, since the American firm is more than familiar with nominations and Oscar successes. Blue Morning Pictures, meanwhile, a company launched in the USA in September by Mediawan in association with Florian Zeller, will be absorbed alongside plan B into a new dedicated entity.
For the record, Mediawan is also active in world sales by way of Mediawan Rights, LS Distribution and Telmondis.
