Generation Inclusion set to foster young filmmaking talents from the Kingdom of the Netherlands
The new Dutch development initiative launched last week, with backers including Netflix, Amazon, Viacom and Youtube
Last week saw the launch of a new Dutch scouting and development initiative called Generation Inclusion. The effort will help young filmmakers to make their voices heard, with a dedicated fund totalling €105,000 and backed by public and commercial broadcasters as well as other key stakeholders. The news was first reported by Screen International.
In detail, eight talent development scouts will identify new voices and stories throughout the country and in the Dutch Caribbean. Anyone with an idea for a film or series can sign up at the programme’s website (more information here). Selected participants will take part in a four-month development process, where they will be guided by professional script coaches and participate in training courses, masterclasses and network events. At the end of Generation Inclusion, the talent will pitch their project to the participating partners, which include 13 of the most significant platforms in the Netherlands. If a match is made, the project will be further developed and later produced.
The initiative is run by Amsterdam-based cultural organisation Rose Stories. It received backing from Netflix, Amazon, the Netherlands Film Fund, Viacom, RTL/Videoland, YouTube, Avrotros, BNNVARA, EO, Max, Human, KronCRV and VPRO, among other organisations.
