ROMANE APSA

by Zuzana Brejcha

synopsis

Four women's stories told across four seasons. Three generations of Romany women live in a tenement in eastern Slovakia in a kind of matriarchy. Since the arrival of democracy, all of the men are unemployed, the level of subsistence has fallen to half of what it once was and the children are educated in pure Romany/Gypsy classes without any contact with "white" children.
