What unfolds against the backdrop of the story of Klára Knabelová and her relationship with three Austro-Hungarian Army officers is a parable of the collapse of the old world of traditional values and the start of the proliferation of new (dis)orders. Word War I becomes a trigger for this process of disintegration and an incubator for mysterious, irrational forces.
