synopsis

In the suburbs of Lisbon, Márcia, a single mother of two in her forties, works as a cook in a neighbourhood restaurant and shares her house with her sister Ivete, a hairdresser on a shopping centre. Andreia, the daughter, works as a cashier on a supermarket, studies nursing and dates César, a security guard. Joca, the son, is unemployed and a small-time delinquent. One day Andreia confesses to her mother that she is in love with one of her professors, Vieira, an older and married man. Unexpectedly, Márcia follows her when they part, soon to discover the lovers and, in shock, realize that an unnamed tragedy is pending over them…
