The action takes place during one of the sessions of a final-year programme in group therapy. The head lecturer for the programme is an American psychiatrist-psychotherapist and the group is made up of psychiatrists, special education teachers and pedagogues. Their motives for attending this programme are twofold: because of their own professional ambition and because of the American professor’s worldwide reputation. At the centre of the story is a 40-year old psychiatrist, Simona K., who is much more successful in her professional life than in her private life.
