The driving theme of An Unlikely Romance is girls having relationships with the wrong guys for which they keep blaming themselves. Luisa and Erika are the two protagonists of the film, the first an aspiring actress whose husband does not agree with this career choice and the second one trying to build a promising career while her boss has different intentions. The husband ends up committing suicide while Erika accidentally kills her boss in an act of self-defence.
