ENGAGEMENT RING
synopsis
The film follows a young girl who has doubts about her engagement as her fiancé disregards her opinions when deciding which furniture they should have and calls her repeatedly to know her whereabouts. In Palestinian culture, the engagement period is a time for the couple to get to know each other before the wedding, but fear of stigmatisation often prevents girls from breaking off engagements that are not to their taste. At the end of the film, the girl removes her engagement ring, a decision that fundamentally goes against the norms and expectations of her family and friends.
