ANYWHERE ELSE

by Ester Amrami

synopsis

Eight years ago Noa came to Berlin. Now she is about to graduate from university and has recently moved in with Jörg, her German boyfriend. But suddenly she experiences a personal crisis. Noa feels misunderstood and isolated. She doesn’t recognize her own self anymore. When Noa’s professor refuses her master thesis, a dictionary for untranslatable words, and Jörg goes on a tour with his orchestra, Noa decides to take a break. Spontaneously she flies back to Israel. Just a few days of holiday in her homeland. Sun, family, food and her mother tongue. It’s doing her good. But suddenly her grandmother is hospitalized. It's the perfect excuse for Noa to extend her stay, and to avoid facing the problems that are waiting for her in Berlin.
