LA BÊTE DE MISÉRICORDE

by Jean-Pierre Mocky

synopsis

A happy person runs no risk when crossing paths with Jean Mardet. But the trouble starts if an unhappy person happens to run into him. Because, if Mardet knows anything, he knows pain. If God hadn’t entrusted him with the divine mission of helping others, Mardet would have surely put an end to his torments by now! But God must be obeyed. Moreau and Castan, police lieutenants both, have a mission to see that justice is done. And Caroline, Mardet’s neighbor also has a mission: she must never reveal the secret she shares with him. If she were to do so, she’d counteract Divine Will and Mardet would never tolerate such sacrilege.
