PREMIERS CRUS

by Jérôme le Maire

synopsis

The son of a wine grower, Charlie Maréchal left Burgandy and has become a renowned Parisian oenologist, the author of a hugely successful guide whose tasting notes have all the vineyards shaking in their boots each year. But in Côte-d’Or, his father has lost the taste for wine and his transgressions push the family wine-growing enterprise toward ruin. Initially reticent, Charlie returns to Burgundy. He must put on his boots and roll up his sleeves, become a wine grower and be confronted by a job he doesn't know, while watched by his dubious father. Faced with temperamental weather and a delicate grape, Charlie must prove to his father that he is worthy of this terroir passed down from generation to generation in their family. It's easy to rate a wine, but how does one actually go about producing a great wine?
