WE USED TO BE COOL

by Marie Kreutzer

synopsis

„Are you not afraid sometimes that we’re becoming bourgeois?” “What?” “Yeah, like father-mother bourgeois.” They are mid-young, professionally successful, cool, idealistic, keen consumers, who grow organic tomatoes on their balconies, drink locally roasted coffee, used to participate in demos and would never touch an electronic device that did not have an apple logo on it. And suddenly the time to have children has arrived. Using the latest knowledge from child and nutrition guides, a smartphone within reach, three befriended couples take to their new mission as parents. But the hip, carefree life in a smart Viennese old-town apartment is instantly over. Ines no longer loves Chris and perfectionist Mignon doubts her abilities as a mother while Luis finds everything ‘super’.
