In 2010 a delegation from the company China Merchants Group turned up in Cadaqués, Dalí’s refuge, to take notes. Their intention was to build in their own country an exact replica of the town with 15,000 holiday homes. Through an eccentric pensioner, an expert in the history and inner workings of Cadaqués and a young Chinese businesswoman, who owns one of the China Merchant Group’s apartments, Lluís Galter builds a reflection that confuses dream and reality, documentary and fiction, original and copy, in a search for the mysterious “substance” that forms the identity of a town.
