synopsis

Ten years after Anna left her home village because of a fight with her family, she returns in the middle of WWII. With her is a young girl named Franziska, whom Anna claims is her illegitimate child. Anna refuses to say a word about Franziska’s father, as the girl is actually the daughter of a Jewish couple. Anna was able to withstand the Gestapo’s interrogation and must now do all she can to save the child from certain death.
