BUÑUEL, UN CINEASTA SURREALISTA

by Javier Espada

synopsis

Luis Buñuel, precursor of surrealist cinema since the film “An Andalusian Dog”, he maintained references to surrealist postulates in his films from Mexico, Spain and France. On many occasions, Buñuel is inspired by classical painters, such as Goya, Tiziano, Leonardo da Vinci or Millet, on others, his cinema acquires a dimension of an authentic surrealist work of art. With a special sense of humor, Buñuel incorporates memories of his childhood and youth, memories that make up a good part of the singularity of his films, films that contain his vision of the world, his ideas, his doubts, his ability to tell stories without giving up his most intimate obsessions.
