synopsis

The story of the filming of Redenzione, a movie produced with Vatican's support, in which the role of the main character, a charitable woman of noble origin, is offered to the famous actress Elena Monti. Even though she is not convinced to be fit for the role, Elena Monti accepts the offer when she is told that the director is the renowned Giovanni Forti, an anti-fascist who is trying to skip the Venice cinema festival where all the italian movie makers have convened under the patronage of the Repubblica di Salò.
