VIVA LALDJÉRIE

by Nadir Moknèche

synopsis

Goucem, the daughter, leads an emancipated life. She works for a photographer, has a generous, married lover, and spends torrid weekends in nightclubs. Fifi, her faithful friend, prostitutes herself for a powerful and "kind" protector. Papicha, the mother, spends her life nibbling pizzas while watching TV, and oscillates between her present fears and her nostalgia for the time when she was a famous cabaret dancer. Although death, insidious and insistent, stalks them, they refuse to buckle under.
