EL CINE, 5
synopsis
How to represent a people? And even more, how to represent a people that is about to disappear, of which little is left, if not already vanished? Cinema, 5 narrates the story of a small coal mining town in the Spanish northern region of Asturias, unearthing its history of solidarity and resistance during the post-war period and Franco’s dictatorship. The oral testimonies of its residents and the photographic archive of a local photographer reconstruct the collective memory of a community which is juxtaposed with a current post-industrial landscape in decline.
