NIGHT OF THE COYOTES

by Clara Trischler

synopsis

El Alberto, 1,000 kilometers from the US-American border, is the venue for a macabre simulation. Here, tourists who are willing to pay can get an impression of an illegal border crossing—smugglers, scarce water supplies, and fake rapes included. Clara Trischler documents the event, but sensitively interweaves it in a visually powerful way with the stories of an indigenous community searching for its own path between dream and trauma.
