Salomé works in one of the most famous brothels in Lisbon, where every day she meets all the town’s main characters. One day a businessman, Sertório Cerqueira, impressed with Salomés beauty and grace, falls madly in love with her and they moves into together. But at a party, Salomé discovers the love that links him to Gabriel, a young Republican poet, while the lieutenant Braz a client of the brothel, recognises him and provokes a scandal. Deeply humiliated, Salomé decides to leave Lisbon in order to return to her roots, where her Fatima apparition and the three shepherds have left such a strong imprint on her.
