Y

by Maria Popistașu, Alexandru Baciu

synopsis

Olga, her father and two younger sisters have been living a carefree life thanks to the fortune amassed by Ileana, their paternal grandmother, once a successful lawyer. However, Ileana’s sudden disappearance throws their family into disarray. Everyone is affected, but mostly Olga, who feels the pressure of a disclosure her grandmother made on her deathbed, fuelled by remorse. Before she died, Ileana confessed that the international adoption files she handled as a lawyer after 1990 were fraught with shortcomings, and not much was known about some of the children. She even suspected that terrible things may have happened to them. As the only witness to Ileana's troubles, Olga grapples with her conscience and the pressure from family members who refuse to acknowledge any news that might disrupt their comfortable lives.
