RESIDENCE HAMMAMET - MY MOTHER’S MAKTUB

by Salvatore Allocca

synopsis

The journey of a son rediscovering his mother. At seventy, Antonietta has left Italy to start over in Tunisia—and she seems firmly determined not to look back. Salvatore, filmmaker and son, follows her with his crew to understand what drove her to such a radical change—and, through her, to explore why more and more retirees are leaving their homeland in search of a lighter life, drawn by lower living costs and tax benefits that stretch their pensions.
