FLESH, BLOOD, EVEN A HEART

by Alise Zariņa

synopsis

Liv, a talented but insecure set designer in her thirties, suddenly loses the ground beneath her feet when her estranged father – once a promising artist, now a full-time alcoholic – ends up in hospital after a stroke. Confused by the hospital corridors, constantly changing prognoses and her mother’s growing panic, Liv begins to form an unlikely connection with her comatose father. At the same time, her own marriage is falling apart and she chooses the worst possible cure – having a baby. This is the story of a slow death, a broken heart, fear of abandonment, and suffocation of one’s inner child, yet it also manages to be a feel-good comedy.
