LA TIERRA DE AMIRA
synopsis
Justino is a widower who lives secluded from the world on a vast, solitary estate where he cultivates only a small vegetable garden. Amira is one of the many undocumented Moroccan seasonal workers seeking a better future in Spain. One night, as Justino goes down to the village to sell his tomatoes, he accidentally runs her over. Her injuries aren't serious, but she loses all possibility of working, so, pressured by his sister Araceli, he offers her his home until she recovers. She accepts out of sheer necessity, with the inherent risk of confronting two antagonistic worlds, divided by age, gender, culture, and religion.
