THE NARRATIVE

by Bernard Weber, Martin Schilt

synopsis

As long as Kweku Adoboli generates millions for UBS London, his golden future seems assured. When the young trader takes responsibility for a loss of 2.3 billion dollars, however, the narrative shifts abruptly. Through a reenactment of the trial based on original court transcripts, the film challenges the dominant version of events and exposes a judicial process that raises more questions than it answers. A film about responsibility, examining how media and judicial narratives shaped a story in which Adoboli was unable to regain control of his own narrative within the machinery of global capitalism.
