AGATA CHRISTIAN - DELITTO SULLE NEVI
synopsis
Christian Agata, a famed criminologist with a caustic wit and an unfailing knack for investigation, finds himself unwillingly swept into a mystery-filled weekend. Invited by the Gulmar family, magnates of the gaming industry, to serve as the face of the relaunch of their classic board game “Crime Castle”, he agrees to spend a few days at their sumptuous estate in Valle d’Aosta. But what promised to be a straightforward promotional gig soon turns into a bona fide case to crack. At his side on this impromptu inquiry is Sergeant Gianni Cuozzo, a small-town cop, naive but driven by a genuine sense of justice, as well as an ardent fan of his. When patriarch Carlo Gulmar unexpectedly announces that he intends to retain control of his company, rescinding the sale to the start-up Shothouse, he triggers an earthquake among his relatives, all convinced they would take over the reins. As resentments and tensions rise, an avalanche cuts the castle off from the rest of the world. And, as in every classic of the genre, tragedy is not long in coming: Carlo is found dead, killed by a gunshot with his face plunged into a cake, sprawled across the board of the very game he was meant to celebrate. With the phones down and the road blocked, the villa becomes a mousetrap: the killer is still among them. Cuozzo, armed with zeal and wild deductions, appoints himself detective, launching into far-fetched theories that verge on the absurd. But it will be Christian, with his brilliant mind and his disdain for banality, who leads the investigation, forced to put up with the officer’s scatterbrained enthusiasm. Between hidden clues, family secrets and red herrings, the odd-couple sleuths - the cynical detective and the bumbling policeman - hunt the killer in a hall of mirrors where nothing is as it seems. And while Cuozzo tries to prove he’s a real bloodhound and not just a bungler, Christian will put his proverbial intuition to the test to uncover the truth behind the façade of the Gulmar family.
