In a brick house in the heart of a Rio favela, Sueli shouts, scolds and comforts. As the matriarch of a boisterous clan, she watches over her children and grandchildren, unfazed by the bursts of gunfire that punctuate their daily lives. Around her, people die, children grow up, and the house is transformed by endless building work. Sueli stays.
