LE GOÛT DU VIN DE PALME

by Jean-Pierre Bekolo

synopsis

Fleeing her daughter, who is obsessed with the inheritance and accuses her of squandering the family fortune, Ariane Boréal, the richest woman in France, slips out of her private mansion. In her Jaguar, she disappears into Paris with Aristide, her African chauffeur, whom she had hardly ever noticed in ten years of service. As they wander, Ariane discovers a man she had thought invisible: Aristide’s stories, his world, its flavors, palm wine. Africa, which she had never imagined, finds its way into her escape and gradually becomes her refuge. This unexpected detour, between reality and imagination, becomes the only lifeline against the suffocating family impasse. -For Catherine Ruelle "A Bekolo-style remix of Driving Miss Daisy and the Bettencourt affair" -
