THE CACTUS
synopsis
Sami has a little problem in life: he’s a hypochondriac. Patrick also has a problem: Sami. Years ago, when they were children, Sami saved Patrick’s life. Since then, Patrick has felt obliged to be a faithful friend. As a result of a misunderstanding with his radiologist, Sami is convinced that he’s only got three months left to live. Patrick and his fiancée Justine decide to support him through this trial whose destructive impact they, unfortunately, don’t initially grasp. With nothing left to lose, Sami spreads considerable disorder in his life and those of his benefactors. He quits his job and borrows money for a final trip before confessing to Patrick that the only woman he’s ever loved is Justine. After that, Sami, believing that Western medicine holds no hope for him, decides to head for India to be treated by a Ayurvedic healer.
